For most top-level domains (TLDs), only the Registrant contact is required. This contact represents the legal owner of the domain anem.
We recommend including an organization name in the registrant contact whenever possible, as ICANN’s new Registration Data Policy, effective August 21, 2025, recognizes the organization field as the primary legal owner if it is filled in.
Trustname Privacy Policy
At Trustname, we take your privacy seriously. By default, all domains are registered under Perfect Privacy LLC as a proxy registrant to protect your identity.
This means:
- Your personal information is NOT publicly listed in WHOIS or RDAP.
- Perfect Privacy LLC appears as the domain’s legal owner, but you retain full legal ownership from the registration date.
- The proxy company only serves as an intermediary for privacy and legal communication purposes.
- Trustname guarantees that you are the actual owner of your domain name.
Legal Notices & Disputes
All legal or administrative notices are first directed to Perfect Privacy LLC, which acts as the public contact. Trustname will quickly let you know of any legal actions or disputes, giving you more time to respond effectively.

Transferring Ownership to Your Name
At any time, you may request that your domain be formally registered under your name or organization. To do so, simply update your registrant contact details in your Trustname account.
By doing that, you agree to all terms and conditions previously accepted by Perfect Privacy LLC. Once the change is made, the domain will be listed under your details with the relevant registry operator.
Quick Tip
You can request a Domain Ownership Certificate displaying any name or organization without changing your official domain contacts. You can create this document instantly in Domain Settings >> Overview >> Ownership Certificate and download it as a PDF for verification or compliance purposes.
Want Your Name to Appear in WHOIS or RDAP?
After you update your domain contact details, WHOIS may still display Perfect Privacy LLC as the owner. This happens because WHOIS Privacy is turned ON.
To make your own name or organisation visible:
- Update your registrant contact details in your Domain Settings >> Contacts
- Go to your Domain Settings >> Privacy
- Turn OFF both “WHOIS Privacy” and “GDPR Privacy” for the selected domain.
- Within a few minutes, your new contact information will appear publicly in WHOIS and RDAP records.
Important Notes
- Some ccTLDs (country-code top-level domains) do not support extended privacy protection.
- Registries are moving towards simplified contact structures, and many will only collect registrant contact information going forward.
