TABLE OF CONTENTS

If just one registrar could take the title for the one with the most annoying and sneaky upsells, it'd be Network Solutions. Add one item (say a domain name) to your cart, and you'll suddenly see three other items included alongside (only free for the first month). In a month, you will receive unexpected charges to your card.

Ready to move from Network Solutions to Trustname and enjoy premium domain management at affordable rates?

What Perks Should You Expect From A Trustname?

Want to know what benefits you'll enjoy if you move your domain to Trustname?

Let's have you sold:

[+] [List] Green Unordered
  • Unbeatable Pricing And Transparent Fees

Network Solutions is one of the most dubious registrars on the market, and even more outrageous, their services are super expensive. On a basic domain registration, you'll pay $20 for just the domain, add in all the domain essentials (SSL certificates, Premium DNS, domain privacy, and email), and that figure shoots up to $95 for 1 year.

Trustname offers some of the world's most affordable domain registrations for .com and .org domains. We charge $12.99 per year for new registrations with all the essentials included, meaning with us, you’ll be saving $82 per year or enjoying an 86% reduction in price!

  • All The Domain Essentials Are Out Of The Box

Network Solutions is notorious for automatically adding 'Domain Essentials' like their SSL certificates, web hosting, domain privacy, and email to your cart without your consent.

Add just one domain, and you'll suddenly have four items in your cart.

They'll also add in more than one domain name (i.e., with a different extension) and web hosting to your cart, and if you don't look carefully, you may not realize it.

With their web hosting, adding $68.8 per year to your bill.

If Network Solution's domain essentials were free, adding them to your cart would have made sense. But in fact, they aren't. They only add a sneaky $0 price tag but don't tell you they're only free for the first month.

Once the first month passes, you'll see an unexpected $12 charge for Domain Privacy and $68 for hosting. And when you are about to pay, you get even more upsells for your SSL and their Expire Protection (also deceptively priced for just the first month).

Network Solution's sneakiness should be studied.

Trustname not only gives you all the essentials you need SSLs, our Two-Tie Privacy, email, and Premium DNS out of the box (SSLs are free for the first year), but you also get the most transparent pricing on the market.

For the first year, we charge $12.99 for the first year with all these essentials included (ICANN fees included too) and $14.99 for subsequent renewals.

How much would you save with Trustname? In 1 year, you'd spend $80 less, and in 5 years, you'd have saved $400!

  • The Best Domain Privacy In The World

Trustname also offers the very best domain privacy in the world which is steps ahead of the basic Domain Privacy that registrars like Network Solutions offer.

    [+] [List] Green Ordered
    1. When you're registering a domain on Trustname, you can choose to use your own details or use our domain security partner, Perfect Privacy LLC., as the registrant. You still retain full control of your domain and can change the domain contacts to yours at any time.

This is the first layer or first tier of our Two-Tier privacy.

    2. On the second tier, we mask your domain's contact information from the Whois database (your own details or PP LLCs if you chose this option) with proxy details from another of our partner companies.

Why should you subscribe to your Two-Tier privacy? Your contact info is never linked with your domain in the first place, ensuring the most privacy.

    [+] [Callout]
Insert title here [+] [Callout] Title/Title with Icon ->

Also, PP LLC is the first point of contact for any legal issues with your domain. And finally, we will require three simultaneous court orders from the U.S., St. Kitts and Nevis, and Estonia (where these companies and Trustname are headquartered) to compel us to take action against your domain.

And the best part? Our Two-Tier privacy is for free forever, along with an SSL certificate for the first year (Network Solutions charges $41.22 for this).

  • World Class Support Anytime You Need It

Customers of Network Solutions constantly complain about the registrar's nigh non-existent support.

From extreme delays between responses and agents who just don't care, when you need help with your domain management,

Networks Solutions will almost always leave you hanging.

    [+] [Callout]
Insert title here [+] [Callout] Title/Title with Icon ->

At Trustname, you get world class support from human agents (most of whom are webmasters themselves) with decades of experience resolving domain name issues. And what's more? We, in fact, encourage our customers to reach out to us via live chat to ensure your inquiries are resolved quickly.

You can also reach out to us by submitting a ticket if you prefer email communication.

Love to solve issues yourself? Our robust knowledge base and support resources have the answers to all the questions you'll have.

  • No Unnecessary Transfer Hurdles

Ever tried sending your domain out from Network Solutions? The company makes the process unnecessarily hard so that you just give up and continue doing business with them.

So much for services that are subpar in the first place. If you want control over your domain name (as it should be), come over to Trustname. While we strive the hardest to ensure you are satisfied with our service and never leave, we will never hold your domain at ransom if you decide to move.

    [+] [Callout]
Insert title here [+] [Callout] Title/Title with Icon ->

Trustname does not require any weird verifications or steps before you can move your domain. Simply unlock it, generate the auth code, and once it's eligible, we'll send it on its merry way!

To Knows Before Initiating Your Transfer

There are some important mentions you should know while transferring your domain from Network Solutions to Trustname.

Let's see them:

Review Your Domain Nameservers

In your Network Solutions domain dashboard, you can configure your domain nameservers (and if you don't, they are assigned automatically to Network Solutions).

If you were using a different web host from Network Solutions, you'd have to update your nameservers. Your domain nameservers are responsible for directing web browsers to the IP address of the web servers where your website is hosted.

[+] [Callout]
Insert title here [+] [Callout] Title/Title with Icon ->

While your domain transfer is still ongoing, you won't be able to edit your domain nameservers or any other DNS settings. If your domain is linked to a website hosted by Network Solutions, it's a good idea to point your nameservers to your new web host (Trustname or any other host you're using) before you initiate the transfer.

[+] [List] Green Ordered
  1. Transferring Your Domain Doesn't Take Your Website Along

Moving your domain name to Trustname won't automatically transfer your website.

If you want to also move your website to Trustname or another web hosting provider, you would need to purchase a web hosting plan from the new host and ideally reach out to us, and we’ll help you migrate your website conveniently.

We will guide you through creating backups of your website and exporting them, downloading database files, and moving them.

  2. Transfer Pricing And Policy

Trustname charges a base fee of $7.77 (with our promo code) to transfer your domain name to us but this adds an extra year to your domain name's current expiration date.

Given that regular 1 year registrations cost $14.99, our transfer fee is actually a front to giving you an extremely affordable domain subscription!

  3. Transferring Expired Domains

On most registrars, including Network Solutions, you can only transfer a domain when it is active or during the grace period after it expires.

If you didn't renew your domain during the Grace Period and it's now in the Redemption Period, you are going to have to renew it first for an extra fee and wait for the ICANN 60 day lock to elapse.

We would recommend that you initiate your transfer before it expires or at least two weeks before the end of the Grace Period. Transferring it to Trustname automatically adds a 1 year minimum subscription to it.

To Dos (Network Solutions Side) Before Initiating The Transfer

To ensure your transfer to Trustname goes through smoothly, you have to prepare the domain name on your current registrar (Network Solutions) account.

Here's what you need to do:

Confirm The Domain's Transfer Eligibility

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the regulatory body over domain names, enforces a 60 day registrar lock on domains that were recently transferred or modified.

You won't be able to transfer a domain name until 60 days have passed since the last registrar transfer, registrant change, or change to the domain's contact details.

Confirm that your domain is eligible and out of the 60-day lock before proceeding with the transfer.

To confirm your domain's transfer validity, log in to your Network Solutions account and click on 'Domains' in the menu on the left side to see your list of domains.

In the top-right corner, next to your domain name, click on 'View History' to see the last time changes were made to your domain.

Here, you will be able to see any changes made to the Whois contact, recent renewals, etc.

You can also check the expiry date on your main domain overview page.

Disable The Domain Lock

After confirming that you are eligible for transfer and it's been at least 60 days since the last change, the next step is to disable the domain lock.

The Domain Lock is a basic feature offered by most registrars that prevents unauthorized transfers of domain names.

To disable the domain lock on Network Solutions, head to your domain list and scroll down to the 'Transfer or Move Domain' section close to the bottom.

Look for the 'Domain Locked' field and toggle the button off.

Your domain should now be unlocked.

Obtain The Auth (EPP) Code

Next, you need to obtain the Auth or EPP code from Network Solutions. You will need to submit the Auth code to Trustname, and we will use it to prove to Network Solutions that you initiated the transfer.

To view your Auth code for your Network Solutions domain, scroll down to your 'Transfer or Move Domain' settings, where you found the Domain Lock earlier.

Click on 'REQUEST AUTH CODE' so that Network Solutions sends the Auth code to your email address.

On the pop-up, select a reason, and click 'Continue'.

Network Solutions, unlike other reasonable registrars, requires you to tell them a reason for requesting an Auth code, and you can't proceed without doing this. Most registrars allow you to skip this.

If you choose 'I found a better price', you are still redirected to a pop-up.

Click on 'CONTINUE WITH TRANSFER'.

Yet another pop-up.

Click on 'SEND AUTH CODE' and you will receive the Auth Code via your registered domain email address.

[+] [Notice] Info
Insert title here [+] [Notice] Title ->

Customers complain about Network Solutions taking up to 3 days to send Auth codes, so you might have to be patient. To hasten this, you can also call their support.

Disable Private Registration/Domain Privacy

If you purchased Network Solutions Domain Privacy, Private Registration, you'd need to disable it for your domain to be transferred to Trustname smoothly.

To turn off Private Registration, log in to your Networksolutions.com account by entering your User ID and Password.

Click on 'Domains' to see your domain name and if you have multiple Domain Names, click 'Manage' to the right of the domain name you are trying to disable privacy for.

Scroll down to the 'Domain Contacts' section and look for the 'Private Registration' field.

Click on 'TURN OFF' under 'Private Registration' and click 'GO'.

Your Private Registration should be deactivated.

Confirm Domain Contact

The final step you should take before initiating your domain transfer is confirming that your domain contact details are current and that you have your notifications turned on for your domain's email address.

When transferring your domain to Trustname, if you choose to use your own contact details, Trustname will send you an email to confirm the transfer request, and this message will be sent to the associated domain email address.

However, if you used Trustname's pre-defined contact, we won't need to verify this information as it's already verified.

To confirm your domain contact details, click on 'Domains' in the menu on the left-hand side and scroll down to the 'Domain Contacts' section.

Here, you'll be able to check the 'Registrant', 'Admin', and 'Technical' contacts for your domain.

However, note that if you modify the registrant details, you'll be reactivating the 60 days lock and will have to wait to transfer your domain out again.

For registrants based in the EU, your email address will be redacted to comply with GDPR. You can reach out to Network Solutions support to find out the exact email address you used for your domain name.

Now, you're all set to initiate your transfer at Trustname!

    Troubleshooting Failed Domain Transfers

If you run into any issues while transferring your domain from Network Solutions to Trustname.

These are the common reasons why domain transfers fail and how to troubleshoot them:

    [+] [List] Green Unordered
    • Wrong EPP Code

If you input an incorrect Auth or EPP code, we won't be able to transfer the domain.

We recommend copying it directly from your Network Solutions email and pasting it into our required field instead of manually typing it out.

    • Not Confirming Domain Eligibility

You won't be able to transfer a domain name within 60 days of the last registrar transfer, registrant change, or change to the domain's contact details.

Confirm that your domain is eligible and out of the 60 days lock in your Network Solutions account before proceeding with the transfer.

However, on Trustname, you can push your domain name an unlimited number of times to another Trustname user (assuming you are both using our Two-Tier privacy) since the registrar and domain information never changes.

    • Transfer Lock

If the Domain Lock is still turned on, Network Solutions won't release the domain name. Check your domain settings to ensure the Domain Lock is disabled as shown earlier.

    • Check Your Emails For Approval Requests

If you used your own details on the Trustname side while transferring it, you would need to verify them as your domain is transferred. Look out for emails from us!

    Rounding Up

If you are looking to move from Network Solutions to Trustname, you are definitely not alone.

On Trustpilot, the reviews seem to be mostly positive but all you need to do is take a look at other review platforms that publish genuine feedback and you'll see the number of unsatisfied customers complaining about their poor support, exorbitant pricing, annoying upsells, and sneaky charges.

At Trustname, we offer completely transparent pricing, unrivaled support, all the domain essentials out of the box, and the very best domain privacy on the planet.

To transfer your domain from Network Solutions to Trustname, confirm your domain eligibility, unlock your domain, obtain the Auth (EPP) code, disable their Private Registration, and review your domain contact details in that order.

Then, you head to Trustname's transfer portal, type in your domain name, submit the Auth code, specify your domain contact (ideally, use our pre-defined contact), and make a payment.

For our transfers, we charge a discounted fee and add 1 year to your domain’s current expiry date to ensure you never lose it. We're waiting for you!
