TABLE OF CONTENTS

If you are looking for a domain registrar that provides all essential domain features free of charge, supports multiple payment methods, offers strong domain privacy, delivers reliable support, transparent pricing, and avoids suspicious practices, then Trustname is a strong alternative to Fabulous.

Want to transfer your domain from Fabulous to Trustname? We're excited to welcome you.

To ensure a smooth domain transfer, you need to confirm that your domain is eligible (outside the 60 days lock), update your domain contact information, disable the transfer lock, disable domain privacy, and obtain the Auth (EPP) code that Trustname will use to verify that you initiated the transfer.

In this guide, we will walk you through the process of transferring your domain from Fabulous to Trustname so you can enjoy our signature Two-Tier Domain Privacy and a clean, user friendly interface that makes managing your website essentials easy.

What Perks Should You Expect With Trustname?

The fact that you are considering transferring your domain away from Fabulous suggests you are ready for a better experience.

Below are the key benefits you can expect when you migrate your domain to Trustname.

[+] [List] Green Unordered
  • Domain Essentials Free Of Charge

At Trustname, we recognize the importance of privacy and security. That is why we provide all essential tools to protect your domain, along with complementary products, at no extra cost.

Fabulous does offer free privacy protection, but it does not provide SSL certificates. Since SSL certificates are essential for any website, Fabulous users must rely on third party providers, which typically charge between $42.00 and $249.00 per year.

  • On Trustname?

With Trustname, you receive an SSL certificate free of charge for every domain you transfer to us, valid for the entire first year.

Trustname also includes Premium DNS, a free branded email address using your domain name, and our Two-Tier Domain Privacy at no additional cost. Together, these benefits are valued at $100.

  • Unlimited Payment Options

    [+] [Notice] Info
Insert title here [+] [Notice] Title ->

A common complaint among Fabulous customers is the limited availability of payment options. For higher priced domains, wire transfer is often the only available method, which many users find inconvenient and less secure.

Trustname, on the other hand, supports a wide range of payment options, including credit cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrencies. We accept Bitcoin, altcoins, and popular stablecoins, making payments flexible and accessible for customers worldwide.

  • Unbeatable Pricing

Despite offering limited features, Fabulous is relatively expensive. New domain registrations start at $19.95, and renewal prices increase to $29.95 per year. Over five years, this results in a cost of $139.75 for the domain alone. When SSL certificates are added, total expenses increase significantly.

Trustname offers transparent pricing that includes ICANN fees. Our .com domains start at $12.99 per year and renew at $14.99 per year, with all essential features included at no extra cost. Over five years, switching to Trustname can save you approximately $66, in addition to receiving a free SSL certificate.

  • Excellent Reviews And Reputation

Fabulous has limited visibility across review platforms, and customer feedback is scarce.

Trustname, on the other hand, has built a strong reputation based on customer trust, competitive pricing, and a focus on security and privacy. Many domain owners are switching to Trustname because of these advantages, and we are proud to be transparent about our performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Bulletproof Abuse Report Policy

Trustname's role is limited to facilitating domain registrations. We do not determine whether website content is legal or illegal that responsibility lies with judicial authorities.

If you operate a grey area or abuse prone business, Trustname offers a stable environment for your domain. Except in cases involving severe illegal activity such as child exploitation, arms trafficking, or opioid sales we maintain a neutral stance regardless of the number of abuse reports received.

When an abuse report is submitted, we notify the domain owner first and encourage the complainant to contact the registrant directly. Even if a domain is later found to be associated with illegal content, we still allow the registrant to transfer the domain to another provider.

Things To Note Before Transferring Your Domain Out

Before you begin the domain transfer process, there are several important considerations to note.
These are:

[+] [List] Green Unordered
  • Domain Nameservers

Nameservers direct web browsers to the servers where your website is hosted. If you do not manually configure them, Fabulous assigns default nameservers automatically.

While a domain transfer is in progress, you cannot modify nameservers or DNS records. If your website is hosted with Fabulous, it is recommended that you update your nameservers to your new hosting provider before initiating the transfer to avoid downtime.

  • Transferring Your Domain Doesn’t Take Your Website Along

Domain registration and web hosting are separate services. Transferring your domain to Trustname does not automatically move your website.

If you plan to move your website as well, you will need to purchase a hosting plan from your new provider. Our support team can assist you with website migration if needed.

  • Transfer Pricing And Policy

Trustname charges a base transfer fee of $7.77. This fee includes an additional year added to your domain’s current expiration date.

Since standard one-year registrations cost $14.99, this transfer fee effectively provides a discounted subscription.

  • Transferring Expired Domains

Domains can only be transferred while active or during the grace period following expiration. If a domain enters the redemption period, it must be renewed before it can be transferred. Domains in the pending delete phase are no longer eligible for transfer and may be lost permanently.

Preparatory Steps To Transfer Your Domain From Fabulous To Trustname

Can’t wait to join us at Trustname? Here's your pre transfer prep checklist.

Check The Domain Validity

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the regulatory body over domain names enforces a 60 days registrar lock on domains that were recently transferred or modified.

You won't be able to transfer a domain name until 60 days have passed since the last registrar transfer, registrant change, or change to the domain's contact details. Confirm that your domain is eligible and out of the 60 days lock before proceeding with the transfer.

To confirm your domain's transfer validity,
Log in to your Fabulous account and click 'View domains' under 'domains in Fabulous' to see your domain list.

From here, you’ll be able to see the last registration/renewal date.

Update Administrative Contact Information

Before you can transfer a domain, the Registrant and Administrative contact information (especially the email address) must be up-to-date at Fabulous, because the Administrative contact receives the transfer request and okays the transfer.

To up to date the Administrative contact at Fabulous.

Log in to your account and click 'View Domains' under 'domains in Fabulous'.

Click on the domain name you want to transfer and it’ll show you the administrative contact information on the left under 'registrant details'.

Take note of the toggle close to 'Whois privacy'. If it’s on, turn it off to see the actual contact information. Go through it and make sure the email address is up to date.

Disable The Domain Lock

Once you have confirmed that your domain is eligible for transfer, the next step is to disable the domain lock. The Domain Lock is a basic feature offered by most registrars that prevents unauthorized transfers of domain names.

Log in to your account and click 'View Domains' under 'domains in Fabulous'.

Click on the domain name you want to transfer and you'll see a toggle next to 'Transfer lock' under ‘domain details’.

Turn the toggle off and the transfer lock will be disabled.

Obtain The Auth Code

Unlocking your domain on Fabulous is necessary to obtain the Auth (EPP) code needed to initiate the transfer.

On Fabulous, once you turn off the transfer lock, the Auth code is immediately generated.

Click on the 'Copy' icon next to the code to use it for later.

Disable Domain Privacy

You don't need to disable domain privacy on Fabulous for a successful transfer but this is a recommended step so we can confirm the details associated with your domain name.

To turn it off, Log in to your account and click 'View Domains' under 'domains in Fabulous'.

Click on the domain name you want to transfer and it'll show you the administrative contact information on the left under 'registrant details'.

Turn the toggle next to 'Whois privacy' off and that's it.

Now, you're all set to initiate your transfer at Trustname!

Transferring Your Domain From Fabulous To Trustname

Enter Domain Contact

On this page, you'll be required to fill in your domain contact details.

You can choose to use your details by clicking on the 'Choose contact' dropdown and choosing 'Add new contact'.

Alternatively (and we recommend this), you can enjoy the highest possible privacy by choosing 'Use a pre-defined contact'. What happens when you do this? We will register your domain on your behalf in the name of Perfect Privacy LLC., our partner proxy company, while you retain full ownership of the domain as usual.

This ensures that when anyone runs a Whois lookup on your domain name, your contact details will remain private even without domain privacy protection. This is the first layer of our Two-Tier Privacy Protection and is a core reason why Trustname stands out from most other registrars on the market. This will be your domain contact info if you go this route.

And the best part? You can always change your domain contact to your details at any time, whenever you want.

On the second layer, we still give you the generic Domain Privacy offered by most registrars for free, shielding your domain contact info (yours or PP LLC.’s) from the Whois database. This service is offered by our second proxy partner, Whois Privacy Protection Services.

After filling in your domain contact details, click on 'Continue'.

Pay For An Extended Registration

On the next page, you pay for your domain transfer and get 1 extra year on your domain's expiry date.

To initiate your payment.

Setting Up Your New Domain At Trustname

When transferring your domain name, if you chose 'Use a pre-defined contact' for the domain contact details, you are now enjoying our Two-Tier Domain Privacy.

Go to Domains >>> Registered Domains >>> Domain Contacts to review your domain contact details at any time.

Read Why Trustname registers domains in the name of Perfect Privacy LLC. to learn more about our Two-Tier Whois Privacy.

Check That Your Domain Is Locked

You can also make changes to your domain nameservers and view the DNS records associated with your domain on the same page.

Head to the Domain Nameservers section to review them.

Check under General info, look for Hosted zone, and click 'View' to see your DNS records.

From here, you can add and edit your existing DNS records, tweak your nameservers, and enable DNSSEC.

Set Up 2FA

We allow you to add an extra layer of security to your account by enabling Two-factor authentication (2FA). With 2FA enabled, whenever anyone tries to access your account, they'd need your credentials as well as a code generated by an authenticator app on your device.

Save the backup codes provided by Google Authenticator during setup. These will help you regain access if you lose your device.

Can You Get A Free Domain Transfer?

Instead of 'free' transfers, we will give you a free 1 year domain subscription added to your domain's expiry date. Most other registrars charge for this registration as well as the transfer.

When you use our domain transfer coupon code WELCOME777, we charge $7.77 for the transfer. Also, on every web hosting package you buy from Trustname, you get a free domain added in.

Troubleshooting Failed Domain Transfers

Typically, your domain transfer will run smoothly, but if you run into any issues,

These are the common reasons why it failed and how to troubleshoot them.

[+] [List] Green Unordered
  • Wrong EPP Code

We won't be able to transfer the domain if you input the wrong Auth or EPP code. We recommend copying it directly from Spaceship and pasting it into our required field instead of trying to manually write it down.

  • ICANN Lock

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the regulatory body over domain names, enforces a 60 days registrar lock on domains that were recently transferred or modified.

You won't be able to transfer a domain name within 60 days of the last registrar transfer, registrant change, or change to the domain's contact details. Confirm that your domain is eligible and out of the 60 days lock before initiating the transfer.

  • Transfer Lock

Fabulous won't release the domain name if the transfer lock is still turned on. Check your domain settings to ensure the Domain Lock is disabled as shown earlier.

Rounding Up

Throughout this guide, we have shown why Trustname is a strong alternative to Fabulous. Trustname offers affordable pricing, flexible payment options, and essential domain features at no additional cost.

To transfer your domain, verify eligibility, unlock the domain, obtain the authorization code, submit it through the Trustname transfer portal, choose your domain contact details, and complete payment.

We add an extra year to your domain’s expiration date to help ensure uninterrupted ownership. We look forward to welcoming you to Trustname.
