Are you looking to transfer your domain away from Moniker to Trustname? Tired of the overpriced services, poor support, and glitchy payments? You're not alone. Our current customers who were once at Moniker have told us the tales.
Move your domain to Trustname and manage your digital assets at the cheapest rates, enjoy world class human support, and have the guarantee that you'll never lose your domains even if they expire accidentally. What's more? You get access to our signature Two-Tier Privacy Protection for free.
To move your domain to Trustname from Moniker, you simply need to unlock it at Moniker, get the Auth/EPP code, disable domain privacy, and then initiate the transfer at Trustname. And of course, this guide will show you just how to do all those. But first…
What Perks Should You Expect From Trustname?
1. Affordable Pricing
Many domain registrars on the market charge outrageous prices for just one domain and put a price tag on all the essentials SSL certificates, DNS, email, Whois Privacy, you name it.
Customers at Moniker complain of recent hikes in their prices as the company's management changed. We all know that's a big sign that the company is only going to be focusing on profitability.

Come over to Trustname and enjoy some of the cheapest domain management plans on the market. We won't give you clickbait prices only to multiply those several hundreds over and overcharge you.
We charge a fixed $12.99 for the first year and $14.99 per year for subsequent renewals. And the best part? You get a free SSL certificate (for the first year), free email, our signature Two Tier Privacy Protection for free, and Premium DNS too $100 worth of addons, for free!
2. Premium Support
No one likes their queries being handled by a chatbot. And worse is when human support agents don't know how to resolve basic domain issues. That's a popular complaint from Moniker customers.

Customers also complain about being redirected to text-based documentation. Anyone initiating a live chat clearly wants answers quickly. At Trustname, you can enjoy on-demand support from a team of seasoned domain management experts (many of whom are webmasters themselves) and get all the answers you need.
3. The Easiest Payments
Moniker customers also complain about how shady the registrar's payment systems can be. From unexpected charges to refusing payments for domains that are about to expire and putting their domains at risk of being lost, if you do not want to take any chances, you're better off with Trustname.

At Trustname, we understand just how important your domain name is to you and your brand. That's why we have designed our payment portals to ensure you keep your domains active and make your payments as swift and convenient as possible.
Trustname accepts payment via bank cards, third-party payment solutions, and even cryptocurrency to ensure the quickest, permissionless payments.
4. Never Lose Your Domains.
We won't point fingers too much, but Moniker customers also complain about how their domains are suddenly removed from their accounts early on in the Grace Period or when transfers are initiated.

As an ICANN accredited registrar, Trustname is bound to the rule of granting transfers of domains as long as they're active or within the Grace Period (30 days after expiry). Unlike other registrars who make it hard to send your domain out with unnecessary verification steps, Trustname will send you off easily.
We also reserve your domain for you throughout the Grace Period and won't place it on auction right away. So even if you do mistakenly let your domain expire, you can quickly buy it back.
5. Unrivaled Domain Privacy
Trustname also offers the very best domain privacy in the world, which far transcends the basic Whois protection that registrars like Moniker offer.
When you're registering a domain on Trustname, you can choose to use your own details or use our third-party registration where you specify our proxy partner, Perfect Privacy LLC. as the registrant you still retain full control of your domain and can change the domain contacts to yours at any time.
This is the first layer or first tier of our Two-Tier privacy.
On the second tier, we mask your domain's contact information from the Whois database (your own details or PP LLCs if you chose this option) with proxy details from another of our partner companies.
With our Two-Tier privacy, your contact info is never linked with your domain in the first place, ensuring the most privacy. Also, PP LLC is the first point of contact for any legal issues with your domain.
And finally, we will require three simultaneous court orders from the U.S., St. Kitts and Nevis, and Estonia (where these companies and Trustname are headquartered) to compel us to take action against your domain.
To knows Before Initiating Your Transfer
There are some important mentions you should know while transferring your domain from Moniker to Trustname.
Let's see them:
- Review Your Domain Nameservers
In your Moniker dashboard, you can configure your domain nameservers (and if you don't, they are assigned automatically to Moniker's servers). Your domain nameservers are responsible for directing web browsers to the IP address of the web servers where your website is hosted.
While your domain transfer is still ongoing, you won't be able to edit your domain nameservers or any other DNS settings.
If your domain is linked to a website hosted by Moniker, it may experience downtime once it's moved so it's a good idea to point your nameservers to your new web host (Trustname or any other host you're using) before you initiate the transfer.
To review your domain nameservers on Moniker, login to your account, and click on My Domains under the Domains dropdown. Next, click on your 'Domain' in the list and scroll down to Advanced options and click 'Modify Domain Setup'.

Here, you'll see your nameservers and your nameserver history.

- Transferring Your Domain Doesn't Take Your Website Along
Moving your domain name to Trustname won't automatically transfer your website. If you also want to move your website to Trustname or another web hosting provider, you would need to purchase a web hosting plan from the new host, ideally reach out to us, and we'll help you migrate your website conveniently.
We will guide you through creating backups of your website and exporting them, downloading database files, and moving them.
- Transfer Pricing And Policy
Trustname charges a base fee of $7.77 (with our promo code) to transfer your domain name to us but this adds an extra year to your domain name's current expiration date.
Given that regular 1-year registrations cost $14.99, our transfer fee is actually a front to give you an extremely affordable domain subscription!
- Transferring Expired Domains
On most registrars including Moniker, you can only transfer a domain when it is active or during the grace period after it expires.
If you didn't renew your domain during the Grace Period and it's now in the Redemption Period, you are going to have to renew it first for an extra fee and wait for the ICANN 60 days lock to elapse.
We recommend initiating your transfer before it expires or at least two weeks before the end of the Grace Period. Transferring it to Trustname automatically adds a 1-year minimum subscription to it.
How To Prepare Your Domain At Moniker For The Transfer
To transfer your domain successfully to Trustname, you'd need to prepare it at Moniker.
Here are some of the steps to take:
- Check The Domain Validity
ICANN, the regulatory body over domain names, enforces a 60 days registrar lock on domains that were recently transferred or modified.
You won't be able to transfer a domain name until 60 days have passed since the last registrar transfer, registrant change, or change to the domain's contact details. Confirm that your domain is eligible and out of the 60 days lock before proceeding with the transfer.
You can confirm your domain's status by logging in to your Moniker account and under 'Domains', click on 'My Domains' to see your domain list and seeing the Status.
From here, you'll also be able to see the expiry date of your domain.
- Disable The Domain Lock
Once you have confirmed that your domain is eligible for transfer, the next step is to disable the domain lock. The Domain Lock prevents unauthorized transfers of domain names and is provided by most registrars, including Moniker.
To disable the domain lock, under Domains, click on 'My Domains' to access your domain list. Click on the 'Domain' you want to transfer out of Moniker. Scroll down to the Advanced options tab and click on 'Locking/Unlocking'.

Next, click on the 'Unlock button' on the next prompt.

That's it.
- Obtain The Auth Code
Next, you need to get the Auth (or EPP) code from Moniker to initiate the transfer. You would submit the Auth code to Trustname, and we'll use it to authenticate the transfer.
To view your Auth code for your Moniker domain, click on your 'Domain' name in the list and scroll down to the Advanced options tab.

Click on 'EPP Auth Info' to view your Auth Code in Moniker's portal.

You can also click on 'Send me the AuthInfo by email' to receive the EPP code by mail. Copy it and save it for later.
- Disable Domain Privacy
Next, you'd need to disable domain privacy for your Moniker domain. Head to Advanced options after clicking on the 'Domain' from your list.

Click on 'Enable/Disable Whois Privacy'.

Check the Disable box and click 'Save'.
You don't need to worry about turning off your domain privacy. Once your domain gets to us, we'll automatically enable Domain Privacy and the Domain Lock to protect your domain.
- Confirm Domain Contact
And finally, before initiating your domain transfer, confirm that your domain contact details are current and that you have your notifications turned on for your domain's email address.
When transferring your domain to Trustname, if you choose to use your own contact details, Trustname will send you an email to confirm the transfer request, and this message will be sent to the associated domain email address.
However, if you used Trustname's pre-defined contact, we won't need to verify this information as it's already verified.
To confirm your domain contact details on Moniker, click on the 'Domains' dropdown and select My Domains. Click on the 'Domain Name' you want to review and scroll down to Advanced Options.
Click 'Update Contacts (Whois)' to review your domain contact details.
Scroll down to the Registrant Contact field and here you should see your contact details, especially your email address.

You can also enable and disable your Whois privacy from this menu.
Now, you're all set to initiate your transfer at Trustname!

Troubleshooting A Failed Domain Transfer
If you run into any issues while transferring your domain, these are the common reasons why domain transfers fail and how to troubleshoot them:
- Wrong EPP Code
If you input an incorrect Auth or EPP code, we won't be able to transfer the domain. We recommend copying it directly from Moniker and pasting it into our required field instead of manually typing it out.
- Not Confirming Domain Eligibility
You won't be able to transfer a domain name within 60 days of the last registrar transfer, registrant change, or change to the domain's contact details. Confirm that your domain is eligible and out of the 60 days lock before proceeding with the transfer.
- Transfer Lock
If the Domain Lock is still turned on, Moniker won't release the domain name. Check your domain settings to ensure the Domain Lock is disabled, as shown earlier.
- Check Your Emails For Approval Requests
If you used your own details while registering your domain, you would need to verify them as your domain is transferred. Look out for emails from us!
